The strenght of a thing called love

This is a different but fantastic story of the legend of St. George.
It starts with St. George, an orphan who lives in a cave with her only friend, the dragon.

He's the same dragon, in the same cave, beside the same town, but he has a friend who loves him.

Every week, the dragon goes down to the town, he destroys the village and he eats the animals. Putting the panic in it.
St. George watches all the destruction, but he doesn't dare to do anything.

One day, he goes to the town, to visit it. And walking alone, he meets the princess. They fall in love the first side, but St. George doesn't say her that he lives with the dragon.

Every afternoon, they meet each other at the same place, to talk, to be together. But at eleven, o'clock St. George always goes home.
One day, the princess, who is a very blab person, follow him, and she discovers the truth about him and about the dragon. As she's terrified, she decides not to meet St. George again. But St. George doesn't have any idea that she know about his live with the dragon, and he stays a lot of days waiting for the princess. But she doesn't come to their place, never more.

St. George, sad but in love, decides to visit the princess at the castle. Once there, the princess explains him that she knows about his life, and she is sad and angry. St. George says her that he loves her, and princess says that she too, but she can't stay with someone who lives and who gives love to the dragon, the horror of her
town. She cries saying that he has only an option, stay with her or with the dragon, and she cries because she wants a St. George happy. With his decision, only his.
St. George, downcast, returns to his cave, and he tries, with a fail, to sleep. The dragon knows his friend isn't happy, and he wants to know why. St. George talks with the dragon about his problem, and the dragon listens, patient, sad, affected with his words.
The next day, when St. George gets up, he realizes that the dragon, his friend, isn't there. He has gone.
St. George looks to a field of roses ahead his, and he discovers fire's letters, wrote it by his dragon, which says:

“Dear friend,
This is my last destruction of this town, 'cause I left it. I have made a decision for you. I love you, my little knight.”

St. George, with tears in his eyes, runs to the field of roses and he takes a bouquet of roses for the princess.

They live together for the rest of their life, and so happy. And every 23 of April they seems listen the movement of the wings of the dragon: a friend, a horror, an amazing creature, a legend...
